[Transcribed information from Stephen Whatley's Gazetteer of England - 1750]
(unless otherwise stated)
"ALKMONDBURY, (Huntingdonshire) near Leighton-stone, is a T. which
the E. of Chester bestowed on Sir Steph. Segrave, a
priest, who, after great pains, rais'd himself to be Ld. Ch. Justice, and manager
of all affairs; but on a sudden lost the
K's favour, with his honour and wealth, and ended his days in a cloister."
