"CALDECOTE is a small parish lying on the borders of Norrthamptonshire, and south of Stilton and Washingley. It is a narrow strip of country running from west to east, and crossed by the Ermine Street (which here is now the A1 (M) Trunk Route from London to the north). the eastern half of the parish is fenland but the land rises to about 200 ft. above sea-level in the west. The soil and sub-soil are clay with some gravel, and the chief crops are wheat, barley and beans. The very small village is near the northern boundary of the parish, with the church building (now a private house) about a quarter of a mile to the west. The civil parish of Caldecote was abolished in 1935 to help create Denton and Caldecote civil parish. The ecclesiastial parish of Caldecote was abolished in 1962 to help create the Denton and Caldecote ecclesiastical parish."
