The place:
A parish town in the wapentake of Ainsty; 2 miles from Wetherby, 5 from
Tadcaster, 13 from York. Population 247. The Church, St. Peter, originally a
Chapel of ease to Thorp Arch, is now a perpetual curacy, in New Ainsty
deanery.
