The place:
In the wapentake of Ainsty, a detached part of the parish of St. Mary Bishop-Hill Junior,
York, and in the Liberty of St. Peter; 4 miles from York, 12 from
Wetherby and Easingwold. Population 346. The Church is a curacy, in the
peculiar jurisdiction of the Dean and Chapter of York.
