COWLAM:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"COWLAM, a parish in the wapentake of BUCKROSE, East riding of the county of YORK, 6 miles N.N.W. from Great Driffield, containing 33 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of the East riding, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £11. 11. 3., and in the patronage of the Rev. T. F. F. Bowes. The church contains a curious ancient font. From numerous foundations discovered here, it is probable that Cowlam was once a large town."
