The place:

A parish town, in the wapentake of Ouse and Derwent; 1½ miles from York, 12½ from Selby and Pocklington. Population, Fulford-Gate 710, In Barracks 102, Water-Fulford 35, total 847. The two Fulfords being united, form the township of "Fulfords-Ambo." The Church is a perpetual curacy, in the deanery of Bulmer.
