LEVEN:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"LEVEN, a parish comprising the townships of Hempholme and Leven, in the northern division of the wapentake of HOLDERNESS, East riding of the county of YORK, and containing 751 inhabitants, of which number, 658 are in the township of Leven, 7 miles N.E. from Beverley. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £16. 13. 4. Sir William Pennyman, Bart, was patron in 1815. The church is dedicated to St. Faith. There are places of worship for Independents and Wesleyan Methodists."


"HEMPHOLME, a township in the parish of LEVEN, northern division of the wapentake of HOLDERNESS, East riding of the county of YORK, 10 miles N.N.E., from Beverley, containing 93 inhabitants."
