"SKEFFLING, a parish in the S. division of Holderness wapentake, East Riding county York, 4 miles S.E. of- Patrington, its post town, and 3 from the sea-coast. The village, which is small, is situated at the mouth of the river Humber, and is wholly agricultural. The living is a perpetual curacy* in the diocese of York, value £53. The church, dedicated to St. Helen, is an ancient structure with a tower. The parochial charities produce about £8 per annum. The Wesleyans have a place of worship. Sir T. A. C. Constable is lord of the manor."
