WESTOW:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"WESTOW, a parish in the wapentake of BUCKROSE, East riding of the county of YORK, comprising the townships of Eddlethorp, Firby, Menethorpe, and Westow, and containing 660 inhabitants, of which number, 423 are in the township of Westow, 5 miles S.S.W. from New Malton. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of the East riding, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £4. 18. 4., and in the patronage of the Archbishop of York. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Three poor children are educated for an annuity of £2. 10., the gift of Elizabeth Sugar."
