BENEFACTIONS
to the Poor of Wheldrake GEORGE PARISH, D.D. Prebendary of York & Rector of Wheldrake, gave One Hundred Pounds to the Poor of Wheldrake the Product thereof to be applied Yearly: in putting out One poor Boy: or Two poor Girls, Apprentices at the discretion of the Rector and Overseer. SAMUEL TERRICK, A.M. Canon Prebendary(?) of York and Rector of Wheldrake gave Thirty Pounds to the Poor of Wheldrake the Product thereof to be distributed yearly to the Poot at the discretion of the Rector. GEORGE HABY, of Thorganby, Gentleman gave teh Poor of Wheldrake for ever a Stable in Feller Lane, York, now tenanted by Mr. Richard Wilson of Pontefract at the yearly Rent of sixteen Shillings, to be received and distributed yearly by the Churchwardens. RICHARD MORRIS, Gentleman gave Twenty Pounds to the Poor of Wheldrake the Product thereof to be distributed yearly at the discretion of the Rector and Overseers. CHARLES BLAKE, D.D. Prebendary of Stillington, Archdeacon and Subdean of York, Rector of Wheldrake injoined his Executors to pay to the Rector and Overseers of Wheldrake the sum of Fifty Pounds on their making a Purchase of Freehold Land with the Legacies of the said George Parish, Samuel Terrick and Richard Morris. Such a Purchase being made the Executors of Charles Blake paid the fame with which and the Legacies aforesaid on Moeity of an undivided Farm, was purhased at Woodhall and invested in Trustees and is now in the Trust of Beilby Thompson Esqr., William Walker, William Harrison, John Fowler, John Tate, and John Shawforth and tenanted by Richard Waterworth, at Fifteen Pounds a Year. THOMAS SCAWEN, and JAMES SCAWEN, Esqrs in 1761 fave by Indenture to Robert Scawen Esqr., Henry Lives and Noble Wallwynb Pytts, Gentlemen their Heirs or Assigns in trust the sum of five Pounds yearly out of their Estates at Wheldrake, for the Use of he Schoolmaster thereof for teaching Ten poor Children of the said Township to read and write. SYLVESTER WALKER, of Wheldrake, gave Two Hundred Pounds to Richard Savage, Robert Raimes, John Raimes, and Matthew Walker, with which an Annuity of seven Pounds was purchased of Beilby Thompson Esqr. payable for ever out of that Parcel of Land adjoining the Mill hill, containing sixteen Acres. The said seven Pounds to be paid yearly to Richard Thompson Esqr., Matthew Walker, Jane Savage, and Catherine Raimes their Heirs or Assigns and now to William Walker also as Assigns of the said Matthew Walker deceased for the following uses. Two Pounds twelve shillings yearly out of which one shilling on each Sunday estate distributed in twenty four halfpenny rolls to Poor Widows appointed by the ---------- eding twelve in number and who shall be at hruch to receive the said Two Pounds yearly For cloathing Three poor Men The Cost to be of Drab Colour with blue Collars which Collars if taken off such persons are forever to be forfeit to the benefit of this Charity. ---------- eight Shillings yearly, for a Schoolmaster for teaching Four poor Boys or Girls to read and write. SYLVESTER WALKER, also gave Ten pounds towards rebuilding the Schoolhouse. This Table was put up in the Year 1780. |
