WINESTEAD:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"WINESTEAD, a parish in the southern division of the wapentake of HOLDERNESS, East riding of the county of YORK, 2 miles N.N.W. from Patrington, containing 129 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of the East riding, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £12, and in the patronage of T. B. Hildyard, Esq. The church, dedicated to St. German, is an ancient building surrounded by stately trees: in front of the pulpit is a monument, with a recumbent statue in armour, to the memory of Sir Robert Hildyard. The celebrated Andrew Marvel, M. P. for Hull in the time of Charles I., was born here, March 31st, 1621, during the incumbency of his father."
