CRAMBE:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"CRAMBE, a parish in the wapentake of BULMER, North riding of the county of YORK, comprising the townships of Barton le Willows, Crambe, and Whitwell on the Hill, and containing 522 inhabitants, of which number, 152 are in the township of Crambe, 6J miles S.S.W. from New Malton. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Cleveland, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £9. 1. 8., and in the patronage of the Archbishop of York. The church is dedicated to St. Michael."


"BARTON LE WILLOWS, a township in the parish of CRAMBE, wapentake of BULMER, North riding of the county of YORK, 10 miles N.E. from York, containing 188 inhabitants."


"WHITWELL ON THE HILL, a township in the parish of CRAMBE, wapentake of BULMER, North riding of the county of YORK, 5 miles S.W. from New Malton, containing 182 inhabitants."
