"AISDALE GATE, or AYSDALE GATE, in the parish of Guisborough, wapentake & liberty of Langbargh; 3 miles ESE. of Guisborough."


"BARNABY HOUSE, (now Barnaby Side - 2001), a farm house in the parish of Guisborough, wapentake and liberty of Langbargh; 2¾ miles W. of Guisborough."


"BELMAN BANK, in the township and parish of Guisborough; 1 mile SSE. of Guisborough. It is remarkable for being the place where Alum was first produced in Britain, about l595. -The works were wrought for 15 years and upwards, when they were transferred to another spot, where it was continued for 15 years or more, after which it was totally abandoned. -Young's Picture of Whitby."


"COMMONDALE, in the parishes of Guisborough and Danby, wapentake and liberty of Langbargh; 3 miles WNW. of Danby, 8 miles SE. of Guisborough. This is a narrow secluded vale, forming the southern boundary of the parish; at which place there was formerly an hermitage or cell to the priory of Guisborough. Population, 86."


"HUTTON LOW CROSS, in the parish of Guisborough, wapentake & liberty of Langbargh; 2 miles SW. of Guisborough, Population, 56.

Here was a house or hospital, for lepers dedicated to St. Leonard, which was given to the Priory of Guisborough, by William de Bernaldby; and the donation was confirmed by Peter, son of Peter de Brus. -Tanner. -Burton. Some mutilated arches of doors and windows in one of the farm-houses point out the situation of this house."


"LONG HALL, (the seat of Robert Chaloner, Esq.) in the township and parish of Guisborough; ½ mile ENE. of Guisborough."


"PARK HALL, a farm house in the township and parish of Guisborough; 2 miles from Guisborough, 9 from Stokesley."


"PINCHINTHORPE, in the parish of Guisborough, wapentake and liberty of Langbargh (the seat of James Lee, Esq.) ; 2½ miles WSW. of Guisborough, 3 miles SW. of Guisborough. John Lee, Esq. is lord of the manor, and resides at the hall. Pop. 80."


"SKELDERSKEW GRANGE, in the parish of Guisborough, wapentake and liberty of Langbargh; 4¼ miles SE. of Guisborough.

This Grange formerly belonged to the priory of Basedale."


"SLAPEWATH, in the parish of Guisborough, wapentake and liberty of Langbargh; 1¾ miles E. of Guisborough."


"SLEDDALE, in the parish of Guisborough, wapentake & liberty of Langbargh; 2½ miles S. of Guisborough."


"TOCKETTS, or Plantation, a township in the parish of Guisborough, wapentake and liberty of Langbargh; 1 mile NNW. of Guisborough, 1½ miles NE. of Guisborough; a small hamlet, inhabited chiefly by farmers, pleasantly situated, and surrounded by a variety of beautiful scenery. The lord of the manor is Robert Chaloner Esq. Pop. 46.

This place gave name to a family called Tocketts, who resided here for many generations, and only assumed the name of Plantation on its coming into the hands of the present family. There was an ancient chapel here, dedicated to St. James, founded by the Tocketts family; not a vestige of which is now to be found. -Graves."
