The place:
A parish in the wapentake of Pickering Lythe; 4 miles from Pickering, 6 from
Malton, 8 from Kirkby Moorside, 24 from York. Population 170. The Church
is a rectory, dedicated to St. Lawrence, in the deanery of Rydale.
