The place:
A parish in the wapentake of Gilling East; 4½ miles from Catterick, 6 from
Richmond, 9 from Darlington (Co. Durham), 10 from Gretabridge, 42 from
York. Population 569. The Church is a vicarage, in the deanery of Richmond,
diocese of Chester.
