SALTON:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"SALTON, a parish in the liberty of ST-PETER-of-YORK, East riding, though locally in the wapentake of Ryedale, North riding, of the county of YORK, comprising the townships of Brawby and Salton, and containing 336 inhabitants, of which number, 148 are in the township of Salton, 6 miles W.S.W. from Pickering. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Impropriator, rated in the king's books at £4. 10. 10., and in the patronage of G. W. Dowker, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. John of Beverley."


"BRAWBY, a township in the parish of SALTON, within the liberty of ST-PETER-of-YORK, East riding, though locally in the wapentake of Ryedale, North riding, of the county of YORK, 6. miles N.W. froni New Malton, containing 188 inhabitants. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists."
