SESSAY:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"SESSAY, a parish in the wapentake of ALLERTONSHIRE, North riding of the county of YORK, comprising the townships of Hutton-Sessay and Sessay, and containing 493 inhabitants, of which number, 364 are in the township of Sessay, 6 miles W.N.W. from Easingwold. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Cleveland, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £17. 0. 2., and in the patronage of Lord Viscount Downe. The church is dedicated to St. Cuthbert."


"HUTTON SESSAY, a township in the parish of SESSAY, wapentake of ALLERTONSHIRE, though locally in that of Birdforth, North riding of the county of YORK, 5 miles N.W. from Easingwold, containing 129 inhabitants."
