WHORLTON:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1750.

"WHORLTON, (given as "WHARLTON") a parish in the North Riding of Yorkshire, to the S.W. of Stokesley, had formerly a castle, and gave title of Baron to the Ld. Bruce, father to the late Earl of Alesbury, who had a seat here."
