DARRINGTON:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"DARRINGTON, a parish in the upper division of the wapentake of OSGOLDCROSS, West riding of the county of YORK, comprising the townships of Darrington and Stapleton, and containing 619 inhabitants, of which number, 510 are in the township of Darrington, 2 miles E.S.E. from Pontefract. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £ 16. 11. 3., and in the patronage of the Archbishop of York. The church is dedicated to St. Luke and All Saints."


"STAPLETON, a township in the parish of DARRINGTON, upper division of the wapentake of OSGOLDCROSS, West riding of the county of YORK, 4 miles E.S.E. from Pontefract, containing 109 inhabitants."
