Will of Roger Fawsett, of Holbecke, clothyer [Vol. 19, f. 220] dated 16 March 1570-71; proved 1 June
1571. Body to be bur. In parish church of Leeds. To Jennett, my wife, my farmhold and house, with the
lease not expired in the same, or if she die before me, to my son, Martin Fawsett, and his assigns.
My said wife to receive at the hands of my son, Brian F., yearly, for the rent of Oxe Close for life,
10s. [?xxs.]. To my son Thomas F., my land at the Milne Grene, paying to my son Martyne F. an annual
rent of 13s. 4d. during the life of my wife. To Jennett, my wife, my two leads, standing in the leadhouse,
one loume with all gears, and six paire of walker sheares, one sheare borde and handles, and all other
things thereto belonging, for life; and after her decease my said sons, Thomas and Martyne F., shall
have them, paying for them to my daughters so much in money as they shall be praysed for. Whereas my
daus. Alice and Jennet hath had to their marriage eyther of them xl., I will that my daus. Marie F.,
Sybbell F., and Elizabeth F., have each so much. To Thomas F., my son, one cottage late in ten. of Brian
F., with certain grounds to it, the grounds to be set out by Thomas Marton, John Lindley, Robert Atkinson,
and Thomas Earle. The said Thomas E., shall pay yearlie to my son Martin F. such rent for the said cottage
and grounds as the said fower men shall think indifferente. Residue, after debts &c., to be divided
into three parts. My wife to have one, my three daus., M., S., and E. to have another, and if it extend
to more than 10l. a pece, to go to all my five daus. Executor - Jennett, my wife; Marie, Sybell, and
Elizabeth F. Supervisors - Sir Alex. Fawsett, vicar of Leeds; Thomas Marton, and Thomas Earle. Witnesses
- Thomas Earle, George Eastburne, Luke Darwen, and Henry Marten and others.
