Will of Peter Stable, of Potternewton, whelewright [Reg. Test. 23, Fol. 137], dated 22 August 1585;
proved 17 December 1585: - Son William S., 13s. 4d. Son Robert S., my best brod axe, one
thisell, one woodaxe, and my lesse thisell. Son Henry S., one cubbord, and 40s. Daughter
Elizabeth Turner, one kever and one ewe. Daughter Edith Deane, one coverlett and one ewe.
Grandchild John Jackson, one of my mylke kyne, and to his sister Dorothy J., another of my
mylke kine, in satisfaction of my debt to their father, Thomas Jackson, deceased. Rest of goods,
&c., to son Gilbert S., whom I ordeyne sole executor. Witnesses: - Raufe Harrison, William
Harrison, Richard Ellis, William Morris, and Henry Kytchine, with others.
