Radar page |
The black and white photographs of the Linesman radars (HF200, T84, T85 and HSA) are at R.A.F. Neatishead with the exception of the HF200 prototype. The HSA (High Speed Serial) is also referred to as RX12874 or P.D. (Passive Detector). The colour photos of the Boulmer and Staxton Wold sites are from the 1970s and are scanned from 35mm slides. The "newsprint" black and white photos of the war-time radars (Types 5,6,9,11,13,14,15,31,37,47,50,52) are taken from the Air Publication of 1944 entitled "Shore Radars". There is a pdf version of this AP here.
For the Type 7 radar, a pdf version of the AP is here.. There is also a pdf version of the AMES21 (Type 21) available here.
The index consists of a table of radar types etc (below), each being linked to the first image of that type. To get to the rest of the same type images, simply use the next/previous facilities on each succeeding page.
The number for the photograph is given in the caption below the photograph.
There are three sizes of photos: the thumbnail images which link to a page containing a larger image (640 by 480 pixels), and then a full size image which is linked from the previously mentioned larger image. Some of the full size images are very large.
