Chapter House

In 1982, the Rev. Robert Branson, Priest in Charge, stated an appeal  to Parishioners for money to build an ancillary church building for worshipers and others to meet socially, for Bible study, Sunday School, Choir Practice etc, plus toilet facilities and a kitchen.  In May 1983, a planning application for a stone extension to the Church at the rear of the Church was submitted. The cost was estimated at £52, 000 and the necessary money was raised from fuctions, donations and the sale of two houses in Wilden, a nearby village, owned by the Church

In August 1984 the foundations were started and on 23rd December 1984 the foundation stone was laid by the Rt. Rev. David Farmbrough, Bishop of Bedford.

The Chapter House was officially opened on 27th September 1985 by the Ven. Christopher Mayfield, Archdeacon of Bedford and later Bishop of Wolverhampton. It is a six sided stone building on the north side of the Church with splendid views across the surrounding open and wooded countryside. It has leaded windows and the design is totally in keeping with the design of the church.

The building is linked to the Church by a corridor, off which are a kitchen and toilet facilities.

The Chapter House has many and varied uses proving a valuable addition to the life and work of the Church.
