Friends of All Saints

The charity “The Friends of All Saints Church Renhold” has been set up to help maintain our village church in order to pass on a very important part of our village heritage to future generations.

The villagers and others who attend church services in All Saints have worked long and hard to maintain and improve the building into what you see today, one of the most beautiful mediaeval churches in Bedfordshire.

800 years of maintenance

There has been a church on the present site for over 800 years

In the will of Edmund Thode in 1529, he left “To the high altar of Renholde for forgotten tithes 20p: and to the reparations of the church and steeple 3s 4d”

In 1560 the will of James Joye left a bequest for recasting one of the bells

In 1788 the top of the Tower was repaired and releaded at a cost of £50

In 1862/63 there was a complete restoration of the church at a cost of £800

In the 20th Century well over £150,000 was spent on urgent repairs

How is the Charity managed ?

“The Friends of All Saints” is managed and controlled by trustees. The Vicar and two Church Wardens are ex officio trustees with four further trustees elected at an open Village meeting.

All funds collected will be used for the preservation, maintenance, repair or improvement of the fabric and surrounding of the building

You can become a “Friend” or “Patron” through an annual or one-off lifetime donation. You can also help by assisting at fund raising events and social occasions organised by “The Friends”.
