"CHICKSANDS PRIORY, an extra-parochial place in the hundred of Clifton, in the county of Bedford, 6 miles south east of Ampthill, on the river Ivel. Pain de Beauchamp, about A.D. 1150, founded a priory here, of which the two quadrangles and cloisters are yet entire, and have been converted into a modern mansion, which contains the bed of James I., and a portrait by Sir Peter Lely of Oliver Cromwell."

"SHEFFORD HARDWICKS, (or Great and Little Hardwick), an extra parochial place in the hundred of Clifton, county Beds, 6 miles south west of Biggleswade. It is situated near the river Ivel, and adjoins the township of Shefford.
