Several members of the churches of West Melton and Masborough resolved, about the year 1838, to erect a chapel for their own accommodation, and being poor, and unable otherwise to contribute, they dug the foundations themselves. The chapel cost about £1,600. In 1840 a church was formed by the Rev. M. Docker.The ministers have been-
- 1844. Rev. WILLIAM ORGAR, from Hunslet. Mr. O. continued till 1850, when he removed to Morley.
- 1851. Rev. JOHN CUMMINS. During Mr. C.'s ministry a schoolroom was erected, the burial-ground enlarged, and the chapel expanded. Mr. C. relinquished his charge, and removed to Sheffield, 1864.
- 1865. Rev. WILLIAM ORGAR resumed his ministry, and still continues.
