"BADSWORTH, a parish-town, in the wapentake of Osgoldcross, liberty, of Pontefract; (Badsworth Hall, the residence of Joseph Scott, Esq.) 4 miles S. of Pontefract, 6 from Ferrybridge, 10 from Wakefield, 27 from York. Pop 200. The Church is a rectory, dedicated to St. Mary, in the deanry of Doncaster, value, £32. 5s. 10d. Patron, the Earl of Derby."
