"BOLTON UPON DEARNE, a parish-town, in the lower-division of Strafforth and Tickhill, liberty of Tickhill; 7½ miles N. of Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster, 38 from York. Pop. 623. The Church is a perpetual curacy, dedicated to St. Andrew, in the deanry of Doncaster, value, ~£6. 15s. 4d. p.r. £60. to £70. Patrons, the Executors, of William Marsden, Esq. Bacon styles it a vicarage."
