"FEATHERSTONE, a parish-town, in the wapentake of Osgoldcross, liberty of Pontefract; 2 miles W. of Pontefract, 4 from Ferrybridge, 7 from Wakefield, 25 from York. Pop. 337. The Church is a vicarage, dedicated to All Saints, in the deanry of Pontefract, value ~£5. 8s. 6d. Patrons, Dean and Canons of Christ Church, Oxford.
It should be noted that the names have changed: what used to be Featherstone is now North Featherstone, and what used to be South Featherstone is now Featherstone (Colin Hinson, Sept 2001)."
