"SOUTH KIRKBY, a parish-town, in the wapentake of Osgoldcross, liberty of Pontefract; 8 miles from Pontefract, 9 NE. of Barnsley; 10 from Doncaster, 11 from Wakefield, 31 from York. Pop. 633. The Church is a vicarage, dedicated to All-Saints, in the deanry of Doncaster, value, ~£15. 10s. 2½d. Patron, the Rev. George Allott."
