Sync and blanking panel Type 642

This is the only unit in the Console 61 which is non-retractable and is screwed in position

The panel carries two switches: the SYNC. switch, and the BLANKING switch.

The SYNC switch has four positions, these are labelled as follows:-
(1) LPO Servicing sync (negative)
(2) T11 Type 11 sync (negative)
(3) T13 Type 13 or Type 14 (positive)
(4) T14 Not used.

The servicing sync position provides a means of running the display system when the transmitter is not in use. The sync pulse for the timebase unit (range) Type 136 is then obtained from the local pulse generator in the power unit Type 871.

The BLANKING switch has three positions:-
(1) EXT. External blanking (no longer used)
(2) ELEV. SCAN. Blanking for radar Type 13 display
(3) OFF.
The ELEV. SCAN position is used to blank off the non-linear portion of the elevation scan display from radar Type 13
In the OFF position, the brightening circuits function normally.
