The Ancient Parish of LANGTON

[Transcribed information mainly from the early 1820s]

"LANGTON, a parish in the wapentake of Buckrose; 3½ miles S. of Malton. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew (see Churches for photograph), and the living, which is a rectory, in the patronage of the King, is enjoyed by the Rev. Francis Drake. Population, 280.

The Church was given by Burga, wife of Wm. Vesey, to the Priory of Malton, thence it came to the crown."


"KENNYTHORPE, in the parish of Langton, and wapentake of Buckrose; 1 mile SSW. of Langton, 3¼ miles S. of Malton. Population, 83."
